candiceCandice Cunningham is a wedding photographer from Ventura California (near Los Angeles) who has been perfecting her craft for the past seven years and managed to do FIFTY weddings last year. With this much experience under her belt, Candice talks to use about gettnig ready, dealing with clients, thank you cards, and much more.

While this show is pretty "wedding photography" heavy, the contents such as dealing with customers and doing things to make them feel special apply to virtually any aspect of photography.

Hey guys! This is my first post.l

I finished listening to the interview with Candice yesterday. (I was in the car for 9 1/2 hours driving from Shreveport, LA to St. Louis, MO. I did a lot of  catching up on the Camera Dojo podcasts)

She mentioned uploading to smugmug as part of her work flow right after a wedding. I use  smugmug to sell Rodeo photos and host my portfolio while I'm learning to be a wedding photographer… but I don't think many pro photographers use it for client galleries and order fulfillment (I wouldn't).

When Candice mentioned uploading to smugmug immediately after importing her memory cards, is she using smumug as an off site backup of her raw files? It dawned on me as a possibility since you can have unlimited photos and files for $150/year. It would take HOURS AND HOURS to upload 1000's of Raw images… but I guess any off site/online back up would.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Ben.

Hey Ben,

I'm with Pictage & I totally employ them as my off-site backup for all my events.  I upload all my final files to Pictage when I'm done processing them & I have the security of knowing that my work is protected if for some reason something horrible happens at EP HQ.

It does take time to do it, but well worth it – cheers!
