Photoshop CS5′s Lesser Known Enhancements

While a half a dozen or so major features are grabbing all the headlines, there is a series of features and enhancements that wound their way into the final release. These changes are part of an internal projects called “Just Do It” that challenged the development team to address a number of requests put forward by the Photoshop user community.

The “Just Do It” features incorporate over 30 different features that address workflow as well as performance issues.

Adobe RGB vs sRGB vs ProPhoto RGB

Mac versus PC, RAW versus JPEG, Coke versus Pepsi, all solid battles in their own right but Adobe RGB versus sRGB is still one that confuses more people than anything else. One of the problems is that there is big name experts on both sides of this argument arguring why their side is right and the other is totally off-base. What we will try to do is to show how both affect images so that you can choose the right one for your situation.

Pixel Bender Demo

In this video Kerry shows you a demo of the new Pixel Bender Gallery plugin. This is used to add special Pixel Bender effects to your images from Adobe Photoshop CS4. You will need to download the Pixel Bender plugin and any filters you want to add.:

Cloning and Stamping tool Live Preview with Photoshop CS4

Another new feature in Photoshop CS4 is the Live Preview when using the Cloning and Stamping tool. What this does for you is show you exactly what the effect of the tool is going to be while you are using it. Where you will probably find this to be the most useful is lining things up with the clone tool or making sure color tones and brightness levels match well. This video shows you how this tool work and how it can help you achieve the effect that you are trying to get much easier than before.

Photoshop CS4 – Where did the features go?

If you have been playing around with Photoshop CS4 you may have noticed that a few features such as Extract and Web Gallery aren’t where they used to be. So where did they go? Photoshop CS4 has replaced some features and moved others to the Bridge Output module.

Most of these features can be added back to Photoshop CS4 by downloading the plugins from Adobe’s website (links below) or accessing them from the Goodies folder on the installation DVD.

Fluid Zoom and View Rotation in Photoshop CS4

Today we are going to take a look at a new feature in Photoshop CS4, the Fluid Zoom and View Rotation tools. The Fluid Zoom allows for smooth zooming in and out of an image with much finer control than every before. The View Rotation tool allows you to rotate the view of the image around to make working on an image easier.
