Posing Basics: Using V’s for Composition and Framing

Using V shapes is extremely pleasing to the eye and can help add a lot of dramatic flair as it really makes the subject stand out. The V shape can be used for both composition as well as framing the subject. In the first example we see how V’s help the overall composition of the shot:

In the next set of examples we see examples of using the V shape to help frame the subject’s face to help guide the viewer’s eyes to the subject’s face:
