Posing Basics – The S Curve

Picture3One day my wife came home to find me sitting in the middle of the living room floor surrounded by torn up fashion magazines. After the appropriate jokes about what I could possibly be doing I explained that I was going through the popular magazines and sorting the advertisements by poses. This turned out to be an excellent way to learn about posing and in this series about posing, we will go through the most popular poses and see how you can use them with your clients to make them look their best. We are going to start off with the S curve.

The S Curve

The S Curve is a very common pose with the body in an S position with one shoulder tilted towards to extended hip. The body weight is positioned on the leg under the extended hip. While this pose is most commonly used with swimsuits it can also be used with other types of clothing.

Here are two more examples of good use of the S Curve.

If you have done any shots using the S Curve, please post them in the comments below or in the forum thread so share with everyone.

Stay tuned for more examples of posing techniques.
