MindShift Gear Camera Bags Launched on KickStarter

I learned a long time ago that one of the things you should never scrimp on is your camera bag. If you buy a quality bag it will last you many times longer than a cheap bag, saving you money in the long run. To that end, it is no secret that I have been a huge fan of Think Tank Photo bags over the years. They have always held up extremely well under lots of use and if there ever was a problem, their customer service has been second to none.  So it may come as a surprise to many that Mind Shift is a separate camera bag manufacturer but it is being started by the same team as Think Tank Photo.

About Mind Shift

Mind Shift is dedicated to building carrying solutions for photographers who are passionate about experiencing the natural world. Brian Erwin explained the reason for a new company is that it is to avoid confusion.  Think Tank was founded to serve the needs of professional photographers in mostly urban settings.  This is a definition they take quite literally in their designs.   “What and how photographers carry gear in urban versus outdoor/nature settings is often very different. ” said Brian, “By creating the new company we are able to design that line-up of gear specifically for how nature/outdoor photographers operate.”

The first bag to be announced is the The rotation180º professional which features something that no other backpack does – an integrated camera waist pack that rotates out of the lower section to the front of the body, allowing instant access (patent pending design). Releasing and rotating the waist pack can be done in seconds, letting you quickly change lenses, filters, or other accessories.

Mind Shift is launching this company with a Kickstarter program for the world’s first rotating outdoor backpack, the rotation180°professional.  The Kickstarter link is http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/134466492/rotation180-photo-backpack.  Go there to check out the video and the factsheet for the backpack.  It’s really an amazing design and engineering feat!

Even though the project was launched on KickStarter this morning, they are already only two thousand dollars short of their $30,000 funding goal and will likely hit the goal within the next 24 hours.
