I've heard this so many times — what a great picture, you must have a great camera. It's beyond idiotic, it's insulting, analogous to saying to Da Vinci, hey, what a great painting, you must have great brushes/paints/canvases, or to Beethoven, hey what a great sonata, you must have a great piano, or to Faulkner, hey what a great novel, you must have a terrific typewriter. (And no, I'm not comparing myself to any of them.)

To me its the photographer who is most important. A bad photographer will surely click bad pictures with a great camera. There should be a balance in all the things, a good photographer can't do with a worst camera and visa-versa.
