Use a simple angle to make a shot more dramatic
Here is a quick tip for you that can make a big difference in your shots, try adding a little angle to your shots when you take them. The following two images show what a little turn of the camera can accomplish.

an excellent tip Kerry, when you compare both shots, the top one is really an ordinary shot but the second shot below, it gets you to examine the image more closely.

I bet the Angled shot wouldn't be as interesting if the photographer hadn't moved to include more of the side of the train car.
And also therefore get rid of the car on the left.
The first shot has the compositional creativity of a mugshot. And it neglects the best feature of shooting railways: perspective! Even without a pair of rails vanishing on the horizon, the second photo gives much more depth by including the side of the car. And the tilt gives the sense of motion, too. Good tip, Kerry.
Meh, both photos are bad. The "fashion tilt" is a bad gimmick and ranks up there with overdone HDR.
To each his own, there is a time and a place for pretty much everything, even overdone HDR if that is the intended effect.
