Photoshop CS5 Content Aware Fill – Just how good is it?
Probably the most hyped feature of the new Adobe Photoshop CS5 is the incredible new Content Aware Fill. Somewhat like the Healing Brush, Content Aware Fill will use data from surrounding areas to fill in where you have made a selection. The misconception is that it will “create” new material in the selection area. The reality is that there has to be enough extra data for the tool to work with. In this video I walk you through using the new Content Aware Fill tools and show you how it works, and the conditions where it will work best…and yes, even where it will fail.

Great review and demo. You are absolutely right about the content aware fill, its a tool that works really great but only once you learn how to use it.
Nice article Kerry.
Having seen the Content Aware fill in action, it's going to be a real time saver for sure. It does an excellent job of analysing the associated area and seemlessly filling unwated features.
Kerry,
Enjoyed talking to you at your PPO talk in Columbus, OH. I asked if you ever used masking to help solve content aware fill problems like the skeleton in your demo? Here is the web video on how to do it. I tried it on your skeleton and it works pretty good if you mask both around the brick and overhead prior to applying content aware.
