Thanks for this great interview with NvN! I already soaked up his Tangents Blog intensely and it's nice to hear his voice for the first time.
Excellent Podcast!
I cried when I listened to this as I drove away from my first wedding this weekend. This would have been soooo helpful to know before I started shooting in the very dark small room where the ceremony took place.
So sorry to hear that. Hopefully it turned out ok in the end and that we helped teach something that will be useful in the future.

Hey Kerry –
Used Niel's suggestions in my weekly practice session last week and really loved the results. My write up is here: http://jchandlerphotography.com/1522
Thanks for providing the on-camera flash info.
Joey
Excellent first run at directional lighting! The results are very pleasing and natural looking. Very nice job!

I've just listened to this and got SO much out of it – thank you Kerry and Neil. Having spent the last year working out how to get my flash off-camera, this has made it so much clearer about how to use it on-camera!! I have Neil's book, which is excellent – but having him talk through it with Kerry asking all the questions I've been thinking has really sorted it out in my head. Brilliant brilliant brilliant and thank you again!!!!
Neil is a genius with on camera flash. All who say the flash has to be off the camera need to read his website.
If we have to rely on very high ISOs how can we freeze the subjects moving during dancing.
High ISO allows for a fast shutter speed, but really, I can shoot at 1/8th of a second and freeze the subjects simply by using flash on second curtain sync.
I've been reading Neils blog for a few years now, it's where I learned how to do flash for weddings. His blog is such a great resource he could repackage it and sell it. I was glad to stumble across this podcast with Neil. Thanks so much!
