video killed the still camera (star). Video is here to stay. Yeah there are a lot of people who don't like making videos, and rather have a camera without video and save a few 100 bucks. But that wont happen. Canon can't make 20 different camera's to suite every buyer. And the way photography is going and self promotion, video is starting to play a bigger role.

I would bet we wont see another DSLR without video anytime soon. There is almost no reason NOT to include it since it is easy to add on. I do like the featureset of the 7D and now it is going to be harder to decide what my next rig will be.

Hi guys!

Looks like we're going to have to spend some more money... :)

I've upgraded to my 50D six months ago and I'm very happy with it, I was waiting for a 50D with video as an upgrade, but with this 7D they've re-created a new market-nich and the 50D became officially a consumer or at the most pro-sumer camera, as they did with the 20D and that's the bad news for 50D owners.

In market terms I think the 7D is more in the line of a 50D than the 5D. The 7D should be the entrance to the professional full frame market, maybe like a 5D version without video and less pixels, but cheaper than the 5D.

Considering the 7D itself it looks great, however, I would prefer that the 7D had a full frame sensor and higher usable ISO and not the video stuff. I think there is still a big market for the pro "non-video" photographers that do not want to spend more money in a camera that have features they do not want to use professionally.

Do you think the future professional camera market should always have the video or that one could have the chance to choose beween two versions of the same camera?

Cheers,
Tiago
