This article is not sponsored by any company to try to sell their products and not for one second am I trying to do anything but help people get their shots right in-camera. I have shown how, why, and when a camera's exposure meter is not accurate and a light meter can solve that issue. That is NOT to say you can't adjust for it and with some trial and error get your image dialed in. I am only saying that a light meter will get you there faster.

I did not say, nor even mean to imply that you cannot take a good image without a meter.

Here we go. Let's get some more schmucks out there to now go buy light meters. Gotta have a light meter now! Like someone said, Photo blogs and magazines are 25% articles and 75% photo product catalog.

Nice post. I used to use a light meter years ago when I was shooting medium format. I miss not using one anymore. I also like how it makes you slow down a bit and think about what you are shooting. I'm going to have to pick up an L-358 sometime.

Coming soon! We are working on a more "how to" article with light meters. I am going to see about borrowing an L-358 so I can use a couple of different meters.

Nice article (again!). Now if I could just find some decent information on HOW to use the light meter. With all the information on the web for digital photography and processing images, I find it strange there are no simple instructions or video demos on how to USE the L-358.

Add me as another L-358 fan (I added the Pocket Wizard module to mine for flash metering as well). Nice article! Great having the flexibility and understanding/readings of reflective vs. incident light as tools.

Great article! I used to be in the light-meter hater group until I went on a trip with someone what used one and have since bought the L-358. The way I shoot has changed, I'm taking less photos to get the exposure right and I'm taking more quality frames. It's helped me get out of the "I'll fix it in Photoshop" mentality.
