Moving to faster hosting company


With the popularity of L7Foto.com over the last few months growing at an amazing rate, the slow speed of the 1and1.com shared server is just too much for this site. Canon EOS 40D Firmware 1.05 Update


Canon has released firmware 1.05 for the EOS 40D camera. If you have a recent camera it may already have 1.05 on it. If you have an older version of the firmware, this release fixes the following issues:

This firmware update (Version 1.0.5) incorporates the following improvements and fixes.

  • When playing back images just after recovering from Auto Power Off, the display now shows the last image played back.
  • During remote shooting, images are now displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor right after they are taken.
  • Corrects a warning message in Korean that appears when updating the firmware.
  • Corrects errors in the Spanish menu screens.
  • Corrects a phenomenon that prevented printing with some print systems.
  • Corrects a rare phenomenon in which file numbers or image numbers were sometimes skipped

Understanding Depth of Field


When done well, a photograph that has good control over the depth of field can add dramatically to the impact of the picture. When we are talking about depth of field, what we are referring to is a shot were the main subject of the picture is in sharp focus but other elements in the picture are blurred or out of focus. Two key terms to learn here are focal plane which is the area of the image that we want to have in sharp focus and bokeh which is the out of focus sections.
